In recent years, commercial 5G services have been rolled out across the globe and become a cornerstone of enabling the Intelligent Industry. Telecom operators continue to invest heavily in 5G technology, deploying 5G networks in the hopes of driving growth and creating new revenue streams. One recent report estimates that the capital expenditure for 5G networks between 2020 and 2025 will reach $1.1 trillion globally, signifying that telcos are continuing to invest in 5G deployment. However, the question remains if they have the right strategies in place to get a return on this investment.
The current stress on capital markets has resulted in rising interest rates and significantly increased the cost of debt service for many telecom operators. This has driven the need for increased cash flow for many of these providers and has left many searching for ways to monetize 5G for their business.
