A study by Workplace Intelligence highlights that 83% of employees reported improving their skills as one of their top priorities. Also, 88% are already putting a significant amount of time and effort into this endeavor.
The study also found out that for employees, developing their skills and climbing the career ladder is about much more than getting a salary boost or enjoying greater status and recognition. Along with higher pay, as reported by 59% of employees, professionals hope that evolving their career will result in improved work-life balance, while 41% said that it will offer a sense of purpose. Among employees with leadership ambitions, 47% felt that they could create an improved work experience for the next generation and inspire others to follow their dreams.
Another survey by LinkedIn indicated that most employees feel that their current organization does not offer the right conditions for career growth. Only 26% said that their company motivated them to learn a new skill, and 15% said their organization encouraged them to move into a new role.
