This IDC Webinar provides an update on the current state of the global IT market, and the latest outlook for technology spending, with a special focus on downside and upside economic scenarios for 2024.
The likelihood of a recession in the US and other countries has receded, but the short-term forecast remains extremely fluid as we assess the potential impact of a recession on IT budgets for next year. A 'soft landing' for the economy represents a benign baseline scenario, in which IT spending in 2024 is set to benefit from strong sentiment toward investment in AI, cloud and analytics solutions. On the other hand, if a recession has been delayed rather than avoided, this could represent a significant headwind for new IT projects and deployments, while high interest rates continue to inhibit capital spending.
