Telcos, Mobile Ecosystem Created More Jobs Than Layoffs In 2023

The research and analysis unit of London-based telco body GSMA noted that new 5G netw capabilities would be pivotal for generating new revenue streams by meeting specific customer demands and monetising 5G network investments in the process.
The telecom industry and the wider mobile ecosystem created more jobs in 2023 than the number of positions lost to telecom carriers and vendors' layoffs. Reduction in headcount continued abated in 2023 due to reasons such as companies' pursuit of a leaner and efficient organisational structure, slowdown in spending for network deployments, and the arrival of artificial intelligence (AI).
