Intel Debuts The Xeon 6 Processor, Aiming To Modernize Data Centers To Tackle Enterprise AI Workloads
VentureBeat, Monday, June 3rd, 2024
Intel has announced its Xeon 6 chip to ensure that data centers can handle the workloads needed as more companies start to deploy AI apps and models.
The processor comes with two microarchitectures, an efficient core (E-core) and a performance core (P-core) and will be available in the 6700 and 6900 platform offerings. However, only the 6700 E-core version will launch on June 4. The 6900 P-core version will debut in Q3 2024, with others available in Q1 2025.
'It's all about enabling customers in the industry to deliver real business outcomes,' Matt Langman, Intel's vice president and general manager, said in a news conference. 'We see every company becoming an AI company, whether these companies are looking to be more efficient in their operations, more efficient in their product development, more efficient-or just more effective-with their customer engagements.'
