New Chips Built For The Age Of AI
The Next Platform, Thursday, June 6th, 2024
The newly launched Intel Xeon 6 processors are designed to boost AI and other compute intensive workload performance for datacenter servers.
Formerly known under the codename Sierra Forest, the Intel Xeon 6700-series with E-cores chips can also deliver a 2.8X boost to memory bandwidth, 2.5X better rack density and a 2.4X performance per watt improvement compared to previous Xeon chips, according to Intel testing.
That's important for datacenter operators, cloud service providers and large enterprises which are constantly trying to balance demand for larger volumes of faster compute capacity against physical space constraints and rising electricity costs.
