The Overwhelmed Person's Guide To Google Cloud
Google News, Tuesday, August 13th, 2024
A weekly curation of the most helpful blogs, exciting new features, and useful events coming out of Google Cloud.
New things to know this week
(1) The latest open foundation models are easier to try out. Are you interested in trying out the most exciting AI models from Mistral and Meta, but not interested in deploying them to dedicated infrastructure yet? Fear not. We're rolling out model-as-a-service in Vertex AI where you only pay per token. Check out how to use it with excellent Mistral models and the new Llama 3.1 from Meta.
(2) Processing streams of incoming data to BigQuery is easier to do. We first mentioned continuous queries back at Google Cloud Next '24, and now they're in public preview. These are SQL statements that run . well, continuously. Use these to enrich incoming data, look for anomalies, create new event streams, and more. Read the latest docs!
(3) Stay on Kubernetes minor versions longer with the GKE Extended channel. It's a best practice to run the latest version of Kubernetes so that you can take advantage of all the security patches and feature updates. But sometimes, that's not possible. I like that we offer the new Extended channel where you can stay on a minor release for up to 24 months!
(4) Many of you love Go, and are starting your AI journey. This August 13th online hands-on workshop will teach you how to develop and deploy a generative AI app with Go and Google Cloud.
