Although more than a decade has passed since the term 'DevSecOps' was first introduced to the technology community, it is still not well-defined, and often the hype surrounding it can overwhelm an organization's ability to properly plan, implement, scale and measure a program to meaningfully integrate security into rapid, agile DevOps practices.
Often, legacy security processes and tools are simply bolted-on to modern high-velocity workflows, resulting in friction between development teams, platform engineers, and risk managers; limited visibility resulting from incomplete understanding of software assets and security coverage; and forced tradeoffs between DevOps-style automation and AppSec assurance.
