IBM Kicks Off Quantum Dev Conference With Flurry Of News

HPCWire, Wednesday, November 13th, 2024

IBM's first Quantum Developer Conference kicks off today, a repositioning of the IBM Quantum Summit of past years, and IBM released a flurry of news mostly around advancing Qiskit (SDK) and Heron (its most advanced QPU).

Unfortunately, the event is closed and we won't get a peek at IBM quantum chief Jay Gambetta's annual state-of-IBM quantum, scheduled for today, until next week when IBM posts a recording.

In today's official announcement, IBM reported 'Leveraging Qiskit, IBM Heron, the company's most performant quantum processor to-date and available in IBM's global quantum data centers, users can now accurately run certain quantum circuits with up to 5,000 two-qubit gate operations. Users can now leverage its capabilities to expand explorations in how quantum computers can tackle scientific problems across materials, chemistry, life sciences, high-energy physics, and more.'
