SC24 had record attendance, the Top500 list had an impressive new number one with El Capitan at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and the market for AI boomed, with hyperscale companies spending more than double their already lofty investments in 2023.
So why does it all feel so unstable? As we kick off 2025, the HPC-AI industry is at a tipping point. The ballooning AI market is dominating the conversation, with some people concerned it will take the air out of HPC, and others (or perhaps the same people) waiting for the AI bubble to pop.
