In The Search For Talent, Candidates With Certifications Stand Out
Fortinet News, Wednesday, February 5th, 2025
The demand for skilled cybersecurity professionals continues to outpace supply.
According to research from ISC2, in 2024, the size of the global cybersecurity workforce slowed, with leaders citing a range of reasons for this, from a lack of budget (39%) to a hiring freeze (38%). Nearly 5 million additional cybersecurity practitioners are needed to fill vital roles today.
Employers must get creative when attracting new talent to cybersecurity, as relying on those with four-year degrees in a related field or existing cybersecurity experience won't bridge the gap. Given the rapid rise in organizations experiencing cyber incidents, organizations need to act sooner rather than later. According to the Fortinet 2024 Cybersecurity Skills Gap report, almost 90% of enterprises fell victim to a breach last year, with 63% saying it took longer than a month to recover from an attack.
