As a chief information security officer (CISO), he knew how to protect the company's digital world. What he didn't know, and wasn't trained for, was how to do so while the Mexican cartel beheaded people right outside the office window.
Another CISO was sitting in the car in his driveway, ready to take his child to soccer practice. He reversed, looked up, and noticed that he had forgotten to shut the front door of his home. He exited the car to close the house door but forgot to shift his car gear into park. The car - and the child - began rolling backward down the driveway. That was when it dawned on him just how burned out he really was. He resigned the next day.
