Getting A Cybersecurity Vibe Check On Vibe Coding
DARKReading, Thursday, July 31st, 2025
Following a number of high-profile security and development issues surrounding the use of LLMs and GenAI to code and create applications, it's worth taking a temperature check to ask: Is this technology ready for prime time?
Vibe coding, the act of using natural language to instruct large language models (LLMs) to generate code, is on the rise.
A wide number of emerging startups and platforms aimed at packaging the process have emerged in the last few years, such as Replit, Base44, Bolt.new, Google's new Opal tool, and more. While the promising aspects of vibe coding are well established - lowering the barrier to entry on application development and stretching dev budgets - the risks and concerns should not be understated either.
