PostgreSQL is rapidly being adopted by enterprises large and small. Some estimates show as many as 60% are using it in some form or fashion. For anyone who isn't on board yet, there are many reasons to consider it.
To paraphrase their own site, PostgreSQL, is a powerful, open source object-relational database that uses and extends the SQL language, combined with features that safely store and scale the most complicated data workloads. Origins date back to 1986 as part of the POSTGRES Project at UC Berkeley, with over 35 years of active development on the platform.
PostgreSQL emerged in the SMB space and has now grown through enterprise adoption as more become familiar and confident with the technology.
