Building the Skills to Use AI Responsibly and Defend Against AI-Powered Threat
Artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping the cybersecurity landscape, and governments are recognizing this shift. The White House, for example, recently released America's AI Action Plan calling on cross-sector partners to come together to expand AI literacy and workforce skills. Their objective is clear: to ensure that the United States leads in AI innovation and security.
Part of this national call to action aligns with Fortinet's 2025 Cybersecurity Global Skills Gap Report, which highlights that AI skills are among the hardest to find in today's workforce. The report shows that 87% of cybersecurity professionals expect AI to enhance their roles, offering efficiency and relief amid the cyber skills gap challenge. But this will only happen if AI tools are paired with proper training and upskilling. Without this expertise, the adoption of AI tools becomes less effective in identifying potential breaches and solving problems.
