'Explosive Growth' In HPC, Hyperion Says

Fueled by the AI boom, the on-prem HPC market grew by 23.4% in 2024, the highest rate of growth in decades, Hyperion Research CEO Earl Joseph said Tueday at the SC25 conference.
'We've seen just an explosion in on prem purchases,' Earl said during his annual update at the start of the Supercomputing conference. 'Under the coattails of the AI segment, we're seeing this explosive growth in HPC right now. This is the highest growth we've seen in the last three decades.'
The overall global market for HPC grew to $60 billion in 2024, including both cloud and on-prem. The cloud computing sector grew at a 21.3% rate, which was also very healthy, Joseph noted.
