Technology is ever evolving and growing, never waiting for anyone or anything. You either keep up or eventually become obsolete. Especially over the last 2 decades, where the cycle of evolution and obsolescence has been at its shortest.
All of this has happened either directly or indirectly because of the growth of information technology and the backbone infrastructure that supports it. In fact, no single factor has played a bigger role in making this almost seamlessly globalised world we live in today.
We sometimes forget that it was not too long ago that the Internet was nowhere near what it is today, let alone a mobile phone. However, even 20 years ago, having gone through the dotcom boom, while the Internet was nothing like it is today, we had a fair idea of which direction it was heading and in what form it would be.
