Identity Security 2026: Four Predictions & Recommendations

As an Omdia analyst looking at identity security and data security, I have the privilege of interacting with the enterprise practitioner community as well as talking to the vendor community about what they see over the horizon. Here are my predictions for what we'll see in identity in 2026.
The 2025 Omdia research indicated enterprises were deploying much into core business processes, but much of that was within the SaaS provider 'walled garden' where security was relatively locked down. While using Salesforce Agentforce or Workday agents is a great initial step and nice productivity boost, the real value from agentic AI comes from touching core applications and business processes. While those core apps and processes are where tremendous value can be unlocked, that terrain is also where you find significant cyber risk.
