Enterprise software teams are standing at a crossroads. On one side is human-in-the-loop development, where AI accelerates delivery but humans stay firmly in control.
On the other is fully autonomous development, where AI systems design, code, test, and deploy with minimal human intervention. Both promise speed. Only one promises accountability.
As AI agents become more capable, many enterprises feel pressure to push autonomy further and faster. The problem is not whether AI can develop software. It is whether enterprises can trust AI to make decisions that affect customers, revenue, security, and compliance without human oversight. When something breaks, 'the model did it' is not an acceptable answer.
