Managing Edge AI And Computer Vision At Scale

Techstrong.IT, Friday, January 9th, 2026

Edge computing isn't about putting a small computer in a remote location and hoping for the best. It's a complete shift in how we handle applications and data, especially when you start talking about Edge AI.

Most people think of AI and picture massive server racks in a climate-controlled room in northern Virginia. But in reality, the most valuable data is happening out in the world. It's on a factory floor, it's inside a retail store, or it's at a shipping port.

If you've ever tried to run a complex computer vision model over a standard WAN connection, you know precisely why we're having this conversation. You can't send 4K video streams from 500 different cameras back to the cloud to ask a model whether any pallets are lopsided. Latency will kill the application, and the bandwidth bill will likely kill your budget. So, the intelligence has to move to the edge. But moving it there is only half the battle. Managing it once it arrives is where things usually fall apart.
