OVHcloud offers quantum computing-as-a-service using Quandela's photonic quantum computer with classical object storage.
OVHcloud has partnered with Quandela, a French quantum computing startup, to offer quantum computing-as-a-service (QaaS) using the Belanos photonic quantum computer with traditional classical object storage. Unlike classical bits, quantum bits (qubits) cannot be stored persistently because reading their value destroys their quantum state, making long-term qubit storage impossible.
Quantum computing requires translation between the classical bit world and qubit world, with workloads encoded into photonic quantum states, processed in the QPU, and results post-processed by classical computers. The service targets experimental use cases in areas like image processing, AI acceleration, and quantum machine learning, though practical applications remain largely theoretical.
