ZDNET's David Gewirtz tested OpenAI's newly released ChatGPT Images 2.0, finding it a significant improvement that can generate full-page graphics with detailed text, handle brand styling, and create styled sketchnotes. The tool successfully reproduced the ZDNET logo and branding across multiple test cases, and demonstrated practical business value beyond decorative images.
However, testing revealed occasional errors, such as misrepresenting the number of products reviewed and substituting a competitor product not mentioned in the source material.
While these errors occur, they are comparable to first-draft mistakes from human designers and can be corrected through re-prompting, making Images 2.0 a valuable tool for real work applications when combined with human oversight.
