Celestica launches DS6000 switch family with 64 1.6 Tbps ports for AI and HPC applications.
Celestica has begun taking orders for its DS6000 family of switches, which pack 64 ports of 1.6 Tbps Ethernet into a single chassis designed for high-performance computing applications like AI training and inference.
The switches use Broadcom's 102.4 Tbps Tomahawk 6 ASIC and feature OSFP224 ports made up of eight aggregated 200 Gbps links, available in both air-cooled and hybrid air-liquid cooled designs.
The timing aligns with Nvidia's ConnectX-9 superNICs that support 1.6 Tbps connectivity, though Nvidia is expected to split the bandwidth across two 800 Gbps links for redundancy.
While even faster 3.2 Tbps speeds are on the horizon through 400 Gbps SerDes technology, current constraints like PCIe 6.0's 800 Gbps limit will constrain NIC speeds for the foreseeable future.
