Qualcomm outlines its AI-native 6G vision spanning devices, networks, and cloud with pre-commercial validation targeted for 2028.
Qualcomm unveiled an AI-native 6G vision at Mobile World Congress that extends beyond wireless connectivity to encompass devices, networks, and cloud infrastructure. The company plans milestone-driven development toward pre-commercial 6G validation in 2028 and commercialization from 2029 onwards.
The AI-native approach includes intelligent endpoints like agentic devices and AR glasses, network functions like self-diagnosis and intelligent air interfaces, and distributed compute across edge and cloud infrastructure. Key efficiency improvements include spectrum efficiency, cost efficiency, and coverage efficiency through technologies like Giga-MIMO that enhance beamforming and reduce the need for network densification.
