Survey finds 64% of developers report 25%+ productivity gains from AI, though challenges include tool costs and uneven adoption levels.
A global survey of 636 software development professionals conducted by Jellyfish reveals that nearly two-thirds believe AI is delivering at least 25% productivity increases, with top use cases being code writing, review, and explanation.
While 80% view AI positively for productivity and 75% report more time for high-value activities, significant challenges persist including rising tool costs (42%), senior engineer reluctance (36%), and inconsistent adoption levels across organizations.
Only 43% report high or very high AI tool adoption, creating skill gaps between organizations that have mastered prompt engineering and those still experimenting. Despite productivity gains, the survey highlights that organizations need better data and formal strategies to maximize AI's impact on DevOps workflows.
