Help Net Security, Monday, May 4th, 2026
Ten popular workplace apps collect an average of 19 data points each and share data with third parties, raising privacy concerns.
Research from Incogni reveals that ten common workplace apps - including Gmail, Microsoft Teams, Zoom Workplace, and Slack - collectively account for over 12.5 billion downloads and each collect an average of 19 data types. Gmail leads with 26 distinct data types collected, while Notion shares the most data with third parties (8 types), raising concerns about workspace content reaching advertisers.
Most apps have documented breach histories, and employees installing these apps on personal devices expose sensitive contact details, financial data, and location information to both advertising ecosystems and corporate administrators.
Notably, Workday is the only app that does not allow users to request data deletion, despite storing employment records and payroll details.
