OpenAI launches a new deployment company to help organizations build and deploy AI systems, acquiring Tomoro to bring 150 experienced engineers.
OpenAI has launched the OpenAI Deployment Company, a new business unit designed to help organizations successfully deploy AI systems into critical workflows and operations. The company will employ Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) who work closely with business teams to identify high-impact AI opportunities and build production systems.
In connection with the launch, OpenAI has acquired Tomoro, an applied AI consulting firm, bringing approximately 150 experienced engineers and deployment specialists. The OpenAI Deployment Company is a partnership with 19 leading investment firms, consultancies, and system integrators, launching with over $4 billion in initial investment.
