Introducing the Agent Development Lifecycle (ADLC)

Glean, Tuesday, May 12th, 2026

Glean introduces the Agent Development Lifecycle (ADLC), a structured framework for building enterprise AI agents that drive measurable ROI.

Glean has unveiled the Agent Development Lifecycle (ADLC), a seven-stage framework designed to help CIOs transition from siloed AI pilots to structured, enterprise-grade agent development that mirrors software engineering practices.

The ADLC includes stages for Opportunity, Design, Performance, Context, Develop, Launch, and Monitor & Improve, ensuring every agent is tied to clear business value and KPIs. Glean is integrating the ADLC directly into its Work AI platform with new features including Auto-mode agents, deep debug and trace views, modular sub-agents, and a secure agent sandbox.

The company reports that implementing ADLC has enabled customers like Zillow, Ericsson, and Motive to scale agent adoption significantly, with Glean's own engineering team reclaiming over 17,000 hours annually and generating $1.7M in ROI from a single deployed agent.
