Red Hat Expands OpenShift Application Development Environment

Red Hat announces major OpenShift platform enhancements including AI-powered developer tools and Kubernetes virtualization support.

Red Hat unveiled significant expansions to its OpenShift platform at Red Hat Summit, including the preview of Red Hat Advanced Developer Suite with a Trusted Software Factory for CI/CD pipelines, new hardened container images for improved security, and vulnerability analysis powered by NVIDIA's AI framework.

The company is launching Red Hat Desktop for local development environments with Podman container support and sandbox capabilities for AI agents, while adding support for Karpenter autoscaling and AWS's Kiro AI coding tools. Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization is now available on Google and IBM cloud services, and the company reported exceeding $2 billion in annual recurring revenue with a 417% increase in virtual machines deployed over the past year.
