CoreWeave Expands Beyond GPUs With New AI Sandbox Platform

Techstrong IT, Friday, May 15th, 2026

CoreWeave launches Sandboxes platform for secure AI model evaluation and agentic workflows in isolated execution environments.

CoreWeave has introduced Sandboxes, a new platform designed to run model evaluation, reinforcement learning, and agentic AI workflows in isolated execution environments, marking the company's expansion beyond its traditional GPU cloud provider identity.

The platform can operate either within customer-managed CoreWeave Kubernetes Service clusters or through serverless deployment integrated with Weights & Biases, providing consolidated execution layers with defined resource boundaries and network controls. This strategic shift addresses growing enterprise concerns about safely containing AI workload failures and reducing operational complexity as AI systems generate code and execute actions autonomously.

Rather than competing solely on raw compute capacity, CoreWeave is moving up the infrastructure stack by offering software-based orchestration and workflow management capabilities closer to the application layer. By integrating sandbox lifecycle monitoring directly into Weights & Biases tooling, CoreWeave aims to reduce the need for custom orchestration systems while simplifying AI operations for enterprise customers and research labs.
