U.S. telecom providers establish C2 ISAC to share real-time cyber threat intelligence and respond faster to attacks.
Eight major U.S. telecommunications providers - AT&T, Charter, Comcast, Cox, Lumen Technologies, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Zayo - have created the Communications Cybersecurity Information Sharing and Analysis Center (C2 ISAC) to collectively share threat intelligence in response to sophisticated cyberattacks like the Salt Typhoon campaign.
With AI accelerating the timeline between vulnerability discovery and exploitation, real-time threat sharing enables faster detection and response while reducing duplicated research efforts. The article suggests this telecom alliance could serve as a model for cross-industry cybersecurity collaboration, particularly as government agencies like CISA face diminished resources.
However, fear of legal liability remains a significant barrier to broader intelligence sharing, and organizations need stronger legal protections to overcome reluctance to share critical security information.
