AMD Artix UltraScale+ FPGAs enable ModRetro's M64 console to authentically emulate Nintendo N64 gameplay.
ModRetro is leveraging AMD Artix UltraScale+ FPGAs to create the M64 console, which allows gamers to play original Nintendo N64 cartridges with authentic hardware-level emulation.
Unlike traditional software emulation, the FPGA-based approach directly emulates original hardware chip logic, delivering greater accuracy and lower latency. This hardware design preserves the original gameplay experience, from controller input to on-screen response, bringing classic games forward for a new generation while maintaining the authenticity of the original systems.
The M64 follows ModRetro's earlier success with Chromatic, a handheld console for original Game Boy cartridges.
