AWS enhances ElastiCache and RDS for SQL Server to simplify AI agent deployment and reduce migration costs.
Amazon Web Services announced enhancements to its database services designed to simplify building agentic AI applications and lower cloud migration barriers.
The company added built-in durability for Amazon ElastiCache for Valkey, allowing organizations to persist agent state and memory without migrating to separate platforms, with options for synchronous writes ensuring zero data loss or asynchronous writes prioritizing performance.
AWS also introduced bring-your-own-media (BYOM) support for RDS for SQL Server, enabling customers to migrate existing SQL Server licenses covered by Microsoft Software Assurance without additional licensing fees. These enhancements reflect AWS's broader strategy of extending AI capabilities into existing enterprise databases rather than requiring customers to adopt entirely new architectures.
