Snowflake Horizon Context: The Governed Context Layer for AI, BI and Apps
Snowflake, Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026
Snowflake introduces Horizon Context, a governed semantic layer enabling AI agents and BI tools to share consistent business definitions across enterprises.
Snowflake has launched Horizon Context, a new capability within Horizon Catalog that addresses metric discrepancies and trust gaps by providing a connected, governed semantic foundation for AI and BI. The solution collects metadata from disparate systems (databases, BI tools, data pipelines), enriches it with AI-generated documentation and business definitions, and activates it so AI agents and applications automatically discover and apply trusted logic.
Key features include Metadata Connectors for external systems, OpenLineage API integration, advanced Semantic Views with automated query rewriting, and native governance enforcement that ensures role-based access control and data masking follow context across all tools and agents.
This transforms Snowflake from a system of record into a system of understanding, enabling enterprises to deploy AI-driven analytics with confidence in data consistency and governance.
