TrendAI Research reveals how attack pressure and exposure combine to determine cyber damage outcomes across organizations.
Trend Micro's TrendAI Research analyzed telemetry from 2,014 enterprises to understand how attack pressure, exposure, and detection-response capabilities interact to shape cyber damage.
The study found that organizations with high attack pressure and high exposure experienced 3.3 times more damage months than low-pressure, low-exposure organizations, demonstrating that exposure management becomes increasingly critical in harsh attack environments.
While attack pressure showed the strongest overall relationship with damage, similar attack conditions produced varying outcomes based on detection and response capabilities. The research introduces a Cyber Risk Positioning Map to help visualize these interactions and reveals that different industries face different attack environments, with financial and technology sectors experiencing higher attack pressure than other sectors.
