How to Build a Digital Twin Agent (With Guardrails)

DataRobot, Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026

Build a Slack-integrated digital twin agent that triages messages and drafts responses while maintaining security guardrails.

DataRobot demonstrates how to create a digital twin agent that acts as a triage layer for incoming messages, using the example of "Carson-as-a-Service" built by Senior Principal Software Engineer Carson Gee.

The agent listens to Slack mentions, categorizes messages by urgency, drafts responses in the user's tone using a knowledge base of their prior writing, and handles scheduled research tasks. The build process takes about an hour using DataRobot's Agentic Starter template, Slack integration, vector database, and personality prompts, but the critical final 20 minutes involve implementing PII guardrails and moderation to prevent credential leaks.

The key insight is that the gap between a personal tool and a production-ready system lies in security, observability, and proper moderation setup rather than the agent's core functionality.
