Postman Adds AI Agent to Automate API Development and Governance

Postman's new AI Engineer agent autonomously builds, tests, documents, and governs APIs using its Context Graph.
Postman has added an AI agent, the AI Engineer, to its platform for building and governing APIs, capable of autonomously handling tasks from development and documentation to exploration and CI/CD integration setup.
CEO Abhinav Asthana says it significantly reduces the total cost of building and maintaining APIs by automating bottleneck-prone tasks. The agent can run API and QA tests on every pull request and post results back into developer workflows, investigate API issues and accelerate root-cause analysis by tracing dependencies and actively testing APIs, and automatically check changes for contract regressions, breaking changes, security issues, and design inconsistencies before they merge. It leverages Postman's existing Context Graph database, which captures how an API was built, changed, and governed over time, to produce more reliable output than a general-purpose AI agent.
