Top 5 Quantum Computing Risks Every AI Security Framework Must Address in 2026

Gopher Security, Tuesday, June 9th, 2026

Quantum computing poses present-day risks to AI systems, demanding immediate cryptographic modernization.

Gopher Security argues that quantum computing is an active, present-day threat to enterprise AI, especially via 'Harvest Now, Decrypt Later' (HNDL) attacks in which adversaries collect encrypted data today to decrypt later. It identifies five critical vulnerabilities: HNDL attacks on training data, prompt privacy compromise through quantum pattern recognition, model IP theft via accelerated differential analysis, training-data inversion attacks, and security gaps in the Model Context Protocol layer. The authors recommend adopting NIST Post-Quantum Cryptography standards, implementing Fully Homomorphic Encryption, and auditing where sensitive data is exposed. The central message is urgency: quantum-resistant security must be implemented now rather than treated as a distant concern.
