Deconstructing the Agentic Stack: Why API Visibility Is the Ultimate Defense for AI Agents

Security Boulevard, Thursday, June 11th, 2026

API visibility is the key control point for securing AI agents across the full agentic stack they invoke.

The article (originally from Salt Security) argues organizations are deploying AI agents without clear visibility into what those agents can access, which tools they call, and which APIs they trigger.

It frames the enterprise agentic system as a multi-layer stack spanning LLMs at the top, MCP servers in the middle, and APIs plus downstream systems at the action layer. The API layer is presented as the natural control point, letting security teams observe the full path an agent takes as it reasons, selects tools, and acts.

The core thesis is that you cannot secure AI agents without securing the entire stack they invoke. If any pillar of the agentic action layer is missing from a security strategy, the whole stack remains vulnerable.
