Over a decade ago the MITRE organization established the open, freely accessible knowledge base of adversary tactics and techniques based on real-world observations known as MITRE ATT&CK. Used widely all around the world by cybersecurity defenders collating attacker methods, it was and is only half of the equation. MITRE D3FEND was built to fundamentally describe the assets and subsequent countermeasures vital for defense.
