Energy, Healthcare, and Finance: Why Midwest Industries Are Facing Surging Cyber Attacks
Check Point, Monday, June 15th, 2026
Check Point data shows Central US energy, healthcare, and finance sectors facing sharply rising weekly cyber attacks.
Check Point reports that Central US organizations bucked the national trend in 2026, facing about 1,552 weekly cyber attacks, roughly 7% above the national average. Energy and utilities saw the largest year-over-year jump, up 45% to 1,802 weekly attacks per organization, while healthcare was most attacked by volume at 2,047 weekly attacks, 44% above the national healthcare average.
Financial services rose 14%. Check Point attributes the targeting to the sensitive data and critical, downtime-intolerant systems these sectors operate.
