Protecting Enterprise AI: How to Manage API Keys in Models-as-a-Service (MaaS)
Red Hat, Monday, June 15th, 2026
Red Hat OpenShift AI adds API key management for Models-as-a-Service, tying credentials to admin-defined subscriptions.
Red Hat addresses secure credential management for enterprises deploying AI models to production. Now generally available in OpenShift AI, the Models-as-a-Service approach binds API keys to subscriptions at creation, eliminating shared or forgotten credentials.
Developers create individual keys scoped to their team's subscription, and admins gain centralized visibility into token consumption via showback dashboards. Keys have maximum lifetimes, can be revoked immediately, and integrate with OpenAI-compatible endpoints whether models run on-cluster or through external vendors.
