Microsoft launches Copilot Cowork with agentic capabilities for multistep workplace tasks across Microsoft 365 tools.
Microsoft made Copilot Cowork generally available, expanding Microsoft 365 Copilot with agentic features that can plan and carry out multistep work across the tools customers already use. The service leverages Work IQ to access organizational data while respecting permissions, and tasks can continue running in the cloud after users disconnect.
Cowork uses Anthropic's Opus 4.8 and Sonnet 4.6 models with metered pricing at $0.01 per credit. The release reflects intensifying competition with OpenAI as both companies build overlapping workplace AI products and agents for business workflows beyond simple Q&A.
