Cisco details how SoftBank Corp. automated its security operations center triage workflow using Cisco Foundation AI's open-source Foundation-Sec-1.1-8B-Instruct model to classify suspicious software into 17 categories for policy enforcement.
Through prompt optimization, including output formatting, category descriptions, and pre- and post-processing, the model reached 80.75% accuracy on its own. Combined with rule-based systems, overall workflow accuracy hit 90%, freeing analysts to focus on higher-priority investigations.
On-premises deployment preserved data privacy, demonstrating how a compact open-source security model can automate SOC tasks at enterprise scale.
