Hotter Than a Hot Tub: The 45 degrees C Breakthrough to Cool AI's Biggest Machines

NVIDIA, Sunday, June 21st, 2026

NVIDIA's Rubin AI servers run on 45 degrees C cooling liquid with no fans, slashing power and water use.

NVIDIA announced that its Rubin-generation AI servers can operate with cooling liquid at 45 degrees C (113 degrees F) while achieving unprecedented energy efficiency.

The servers use 100% liquid cooling with no fans, eliminating up to all water consumption in favorable climates and reducing cooling costs by millions of dollars annually.

NVIDIA's director of data center cooling, Ali Heydari, said the DSX reference design for AI factories has zero water consumption and eliminates massive amounts of power usage.

The company frames the warm-water approach as one of the most significant efficiency gains in data center history.
