Los Alamos deploys three NVIDIA Vera CPU supercomputers to power agentic scientific AI.
NVIDIA announced that Los Alamos National Laboratory is deploying three new supercomputers, Mission, Vision, and Veritas, equipped with NVIDIA Vera CPUs to advance agentic scientific AI.
The systems use the HPE Cray Supercomputing GX5000 architecture combined with NVIDIA Vera CPUs, Rubin GPUs, and Quantum-X800 InfiniBand networking.
Early testing showed Vera CPUs delivered 7x higher performance on URSA workloads than the CPUs in the Crossroads x86 supercomputer.
The infrastructure is intended to let researchers build AI agents that can formulate hypotheses, run simulations, and refine scientific approaches autonomously.
