Supercharge RHEL Troubleshooting With Agentic AI: Introducing Goose
Red Hat, Monday, June 29th, 2026
Red Hat brings the open source goose AI agent to RHEL for context-aware system troubleshooting.
Red Hat announced availability of goose, an open source AI agent from the Agentic AI Foundation, through the RHEL extensions repository for RHEL 9.8 and RHEL 10.2.
Building on Red Hat's 2025 command line assistant, goose provides an extensible agent for context-aware system troubleshooting. Two client options are offered: goose-redhat for integrated Red Hat backend access with enhanced security, and standalone goose for users supplying their own language models.
A key advance is Model Context Protocol (MCP) server support, letting goose directly investigate issues by accessing logs and configuration data rather than requiring manual information gathering.
