Upgrade Amazon EKS Clusters With Confidence Using Kubernetes Version Rollbacks
AWS, Wednesday, July 1st, 2026
Amazon EKS now lets you reverse a Kubernetes cluster upgrade within seven days if problems arise.
AWS introduced Kubernetes version rollbacks for Amazon EKS, letting administrators reverse a cluster upgrade within a seven-day window if complications arise.
This removes the prior constraint that EKS upgrades were irreversible, allowing organizations to return a cluster to its previous working state without rebuilding it. The feature operates across all EKS clusters at no additional cost. It also includes automated readiness checks surfaced through cluster insights.
