KnowBe4 ThreatLabs documented a sustained phishing campaign exploiting the FIFA World Cup 2026, tracking a 22-fold increase in World Cup-themed attacks from April through mid-June 2026. The campaigns include sophisticated recruiting scams targeting job seekers and mass-volume commodity fraud focused on ticket sales.
Attackers also use reply-back schemes designed to bypass email security filters. The post warns organizations and individuals to stay vigilant against event-themed lures as the tournament approaches.
