AWS debuts Graviton5-powered EC2 instances optimized for AI orchestration, HPC, and analytics.
AWS introduced its latest Arm-based Graviton5 processor in new compute-optimized EC2 instances designed for AI infrastructure's evolving needs. The C9g family delivers 25 percent better performance per vCPU than predecessors, featuring DDR5-8800 memory, enhanced L3 cache, PCIe Gen 6 support, and improved packet processing.
Analysts note that as AI systems become increasingly agentic, requiring orchestration, tool execution, and multi-step reasoning, CPUs play an expanding role alongside GPUs. AWS positions these instances to manage the CPU-intensive coordination tasks that keep accelerators fully utilized.
The instances launch across multiple regions with bare-metal options and sizes ranging from medium to 48xlarge.
